Intellectual property (IP) management has become very critical in the academic community around the globe in recent years. Japanese academia has experienced a series of new policy developments in innovation, technology transfer and IP management over the past decade. Such developments are also expected in Vietnam since they are an inevitable path for the domestic academic community, as the country develops a set of economic and educational reforms.

This proposed conference should provide both Vietnamese and Japanese academic communities with an excellent opportunity to share current issues and future challenges on the technology/IP transfer and related HR development in the field of academia-industry collaboration. Furthermore, the conference should also be considered as a valuable platform for more proactive networking and HR exchange activities between Vietnam and Japan.

With such long-term vision in mind, Intellectual Property Association of Japan (IPAJ) and The University of Tokyo are pleased to collaborate with Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), one of the highly respected universities in technology and innovation in Vietnam, to realize this well-timed inaugural event to fortify a mutually valuable relationship between our academic communities.
