Abstract: Compared with the existing arc sensors, high speed rotating arc sensor has up to 50 HZ rotating speed, and it can be much more compact, cheaper and more sensitive. To apply high speed rotating arc sensor to weld seam tracking in arc welding robot will open up broad application prospects. A real-time neural network seam tracking controller based on high speed rotating arc sensor for arc welding robot is developed. In this paper, the neural network of this controller is multi-layer perceptron. The principles of this controller are discussed in detail. Experimental result shows that the effect of the seam tracking with the neural network controller is satisfying.
