Abstract: ABSTRACT
The recycling rate of the construction sludge is extremely low because direct use of high water content mud is very difficult. Therefore, we have already developed a new recycling system for high water content mud by using paper debris (fragments of old newspaper) and polymer in order to increase the recycling rate of the construction sludge. The modified soil is called "Fiber-cement stabilized soil" and it has several features such as high failure strength, high failure strain, high durability for drying and wetting. In this paper, a concept of new recycling system for high water content mud and features of modified soil by this method are described.
By the way, the bank erosion of Saigon river is a serious problem. Since the modified soil produced by above-mentioned method has several features, it can be considered that this modified soil is the best to restore the bank erosion. However, it is hard to obtain a large amount of paper debris in Vietnam. Therefore, we are trying to use rice straw instead of paper debris as fiber materials. In this paper, we propose a new restoration system of bank erosion, and an outline of our cooperative research will be introduced.
